A BUSH PARDON FOR CONRAD BLACK?
I drove the last spike on the CPR railroad in 1885. A fellow I fired wrote a book about me, full of vicious lies and insinuations and exaggerations ... trouble is though, it's mainly true
I never would believe that Providence had sent a few men into the world, ready booted and spurred to ride, and millions ready; saddled and bridled to be ridden.

Through the good offices of himself, Brian Mulroney. Mulroney has lots of problems right now and wants support from the Toronto establishment who want Conrad Black sprung --- under the U.S. Constitution Junior Bush can spring Black ---The Bushes often summon Mulroney to the Bush compound at Kennebunkport, Maine --- it's a fine tonic for his superego. The Bushes think of Mulroney as one level, at least, above their underpaid hired help --- they'll toss him an occasional favour. Why in 1993, I understand that Bush Senior wrote a Letter to the Editor of the Toronto Star attacking a Star story that lampooned Mulroney. The Bushes have never met a person of privilege they didn't love. The chin that walks will ask the Bushes and Junior will indulge and, come January, Black will walk. Don't forget who told you firrrst.
Strathcona, Black outright stole $6.1 million from the shareholders of his companies. Are you saying that a U.S. president can pardon anyone for anything --- even murder? Even treason?
Article II, Section 2 of the Constitution gives Bush Junior the "... power to grant reprieves and pardons for offenses against the United States, except in cases of impeachment". The U.S. courts have interpreted that power very broadly. President Gerald Ford pardoned Richard Nixon of "all offences against the United States" even before Nixon was charged with anything. Just before leaving office in 2000, for cloudy reasons, Bill Clinton pardoned billionaire tax cheat and Iran trader Marc Rich.; Why, Bush Junior has already commuted the prison term of convicted perjurer Scooter Libby
Your ordinary Yank despises Bush Junior --- Bush is a big shot and abets big-shots aplenty. Why would he heap disdain upon disdain by pardoning a fellow big shot?
Frankly, Old Timer, what Mr. and Mrs. Ordinary America think -- the Bushes don't give a damn -- like many Tories here in Canada - the only opinions the Bushes care about are the opinion of other big shots.
And what's this you say about His Lordship rejecting rehabilitation?. Has the man no shame? How will he pay his debt to society. How can he become a useful member of society? What kind of a message does this send to the youd of the world?
Well, he more or less has continued behaving as he always has behaved. He hasn't changed his view of life one bit. CLICK HERE to read the Toronto Star's story on prisoner Black. He's writing a column in the National Post - here's his Lordship's take on the current U.S. financial mess --- CLICK HERE TO READ IT. I'd like to say I admire appendages belonging to his Lardrdship whose name starts with the letter "b". But in two words and seven syllables --- his intestinal fortitude is what I admire , Mind you he has been sucking up to the Toronto literary establishment of late - on November 1, he wrote a fawning praise of Margaret Atwood CLICK HERE TO READ WHAT HE SAID about Ms. Snooty
